Adding to what’s been shared, I’d keep expectations in check: the 8+ Gen 1 is less prone to throttling than its predecessor, but in my own use (Genshin, long 4K clips), the Xiaomi 12S still gets quite warm after 20-30 mins-even with the bigger vapor chamber. MIUI’s “Performance mode” pushes sustained speeds, but you’ll feel it in the back panel.
Latest updates (as of Q2 2024) slightly improved peak temps (by 2-3°C for me), but the biggest change was more aggressive background app management to cool things off. For longevity, I recommend avoiding top-off charging while gaming and using the standard charging rate-fast charging tends to ramp up internal temps even more under load.
If anyone’s running 3DMark Stress Tests or similar, it would be great to see temp/performance graphs, since real-world “feel” can be pretty subjective!
