The shift in smartphone design is definitely something to keep an eye on. While foldables and rollables are exciting, I think we’ll see hybrid approaches for a while-mixing elements of traditional designs with these new concepts. There’s always hype around innovative designs, but practicality often dampens it.
For app development, it’s going to mean more work. Apps will need to be more adaptive, with fluid interfaces that cater to both expanded and compact views. That can enhance the user experience if done right, but it could also lead to greater fragmentation if developers aren’t on board.
I’m personally skeptical about foldables becoming the norm anytime soon due to durability concerns and pricing. It’ll be interesting to see whether holographic displays or even wearable tech step into the limelight as next big shifts instead. Anyone else think battery tech needs to catch up first for these ambitions to really take off?
