Had some time with the Zero X Pro. The periscope is the party trick, but it needs light-daylight zoom is fun, night zoom gets mushy and overprocessed fast. The main cam is the reliable one; decent night shots thanks to OIS, but the tuning loves sharpening and contrast, so it’s not exactly “natural.” Video is weaker: 4K is shaky, EIS is better at 1080p.
Performance is very 2021 midrange: Helio G95 is fine for day-to-day and casual titles, but Genshin/CoD at higher settings will throttle after a bit; expect 30-ish fps unless you drop settings. 120Hz definitely makes scrolling/UI feel nicer, but it’s not adaptive and some apps/games stick to 60, so you pay a battery tax without always seeing the benefit. Battery is OK (4500 mAh + fast charging helps), but run 120Hz + camera a lot and it drains quicker than rivals.
Hardware looks premium, but remember it’s a plastic frame with a nice glass back; haptics are meh. Biggest caveats: no 5G, XOS is heavy with some bloat/ads, and updates are slow. If you specifically want a periscope at this price, it’s a unicorn; if you care more about stable performance/updates, phones with Snapdragon 778G/Dimensity 1080 and cleaner software are the safer buy.
