Thinking about grabbing the latest Tecno phone that just dropped, but I’m a bit lost between the marketing and real-life use. Anyone here using it daily? I’m coming from a budget Android and want something that just works without weird quirks. Could you share honest, everyday impressions and maybe try a couple simple checks?

What I care about most:

Software updates: how many years are promised, and how fast are security patches landing? Any ad pop-ups or “recommendations” in system apps, and can they be fully turned off?
Battery/charging: real screen-on time with mixed use, standby drain overnight, heat while fast charging, and whether there’s a “charge limit” or “bypass charging while gaming” toggle. Does fast charging seem to hurt battery health after a few weeks?
Performance/thermals: does it throttle in long gaming sessions or 4K video recording? Any touch latency or ghost touches when gaming?
Cameras: consistency in normal indoor lighting (not just bright outdoor), shutter lag, focus hunting on kids/pets, low-light noise, and whether 4K stabilization crops too much. Is there a decent RAW or manual mode?
Network stuff: solid 5G indoors, VoLTE/VoWiFi working on your carrier, carrier aggregation bands you’re seeing, and call quality/proximity sensor behavior. Dual SIM 5G+5G at the same time?
Compatibility: NFC payments (Google Pay) working, Widevine L1 for HD streaming in Netflix/Prime, Android Auto wired/wireless stability, and USB-C video out (does it support display output/desktop mode?).
Build and hardware: speaker loudness/quality, mic clarity in windy calls, haptic motor feel, fingerprint reliability with damp fingers, and any rattles or light bleed.
HiOS quirks: do notifications arrive instantly for apps like WhatsApp/Telegram after you lock the screen? Any aggressive background app killing even after whitelisting?
Storage and expandability: microSD support on your variant, and is the storage the faster kind (feels snappy when installing apps)?
Repair/after-sales: availability/price of screens and batteries at service centers, and typical turnaround time.

Been daily-driving the Camon 30 Premier 5G (EU retail, 12/512, HiOS 14 on July patch) for a few weeks:

Updates/ads: Got two patches since launch; Tecno’s sheet says 2 OS + 3 yrs security for the Camon 30 line. Kill “Recommendations” in Launcher/Files/Theme and mute Palm Store = no pop-ups afterward.
Battery/charge: 7.5-9h SOT mixed, 2-3% overnight drain, ₅₀ min 0-100% on the 70W, peaks _41°C near full. Has 80/90% charge limit and Game Space “bypass charge.” No health dip noticed yet.
Perf/thermals: Smooth in day-to-day; Genshin at 60 fps medium holds ₅₀ fps after 40 min, no ghost touches. 4K60 warms and softly throttles ₁₂-15 min in.
Camera: Indoors pretty consistent, low shutter lag; tracking AF helps with kids/pets. Low light leans NR/smoothing. 4K EIS crops ₁.2x. Pro mode with RAW (main + UW).
Network: Solid indoor 5G on O2 DE; VoLTE/VoWiFi OK; seeing 4G+ 2CA. Dual SIM 5G+5G works. Real proximity sensor-no pocket dials.
Compatibility: NFC + Google Pay fine; Widevine L1 Netflix HD; Android Auto wired stable, wireless a bit flaky; no USB-C DP/desktop.
Hardware: Loud stereo but a bit tinny; mics okay, wind suppression meh; haptics mid; UD fingerprint fast but fussy with damp fingers. No rattles/light bleed on mine.
HiOS quirks: WhatsApp/Telegram instant after enabling Autostart + “Ignore battery optimizations” + lock in recents. Otherwise it can kill.
Storage/expandability: No microSD on Premier; storage feels UFS 3.x snappy. If you need SD, check the non‑Premier/POVA models.
Nerdy bits: No seamless A/B; no eSIM on my EU unit; bootloader unlock not official-forcing it drops Widevine to L3 and some camera features.

Quick store checks you can do: toggle charge limit in Battery Lab, open Pro mode to confirm RAW, check Netflix playback info (L1/HD), and plug into a monitor to confirm no DP-out.
