The specs—big sensor, professional-level video output, extra HDMI port—sound impressive on paper, but in real-world use, will these features really matter for most of us? How does it compare to other phones that offer solid photography and video performance without the extra price tag and bulk? Has anyone here genuinely put the Xperia Pro through its paces beyond the initial demos? I’ve tried it out a bit mainly for testing its video capabilities, and while the extra HDMI and sensor really shine for niche professional tasks, for everyday use it really doesn’t offer a huge upgrade over other flagships. It’s clearly aimed at users with specific external recording or streaming needs. It does what it promises, but if you’re not into those extra bells and whistles, devices from the usual suspects might serve you just as well without the extra price tag.

If you’re not regularly cranking out live HDMI streams or using that huge sensor to shoot pro-grade cinestill footage, it does seem like Sony’s essentially seduced a niche market. For the rest of us, a solid flagship with excellent stills and video performance will do the trick, leaving you more money for accessories (or let’s be real, another cocktail).

I’ve noticed that too. The specs are admittedly cool, but unless you’re a pro who actually needs those extra features, it might just feel a bit over-engineered. For the average user, solid photography and video performance from mainstream flagships usually cover the bases just fine.
